UC Berkeley offers two official verification instruments:
- Enrollment Verification (self-service for current students)
- Verification of Attendance and Degrees (for students, alumni and former students)
The University also offers a Letter of Good Standing and the additional services described below. For those with access to CalCentral, most verification services may be requested online.
Bear in mind that most verification services require that you are (or were) Officially Registered, which requires:
- Enrollment in courses;
- Payment of at least 20% of your tuition and registration fees; and
- No registration blocks.
- Enrollment Verification - Self-Service for Current Studentsadd
This is a free and secure service provided by the National Student Clearinghouse available to students registered for the current or upcoming term. While most verification certificates are available only after instruction begins for the term, the Advanced Registration Certificate (when available) provides verification of enrollment before instruction begins.
With this service you can view, print or download:
- An Advanced Registration Certificate: proof of enrollment prior to the start of instruction for the term. Available 4-6 weeks before instruction begins.
- An Enrollment Verification Certificate: proof of enrollment status and anticipated graduation date for grants, scholarships, services, etc.
- A Good Student Discount Certificate: proof of enrollment status and eligibility for grants, scholarships, discounts and services that require a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Your enrollment history (enrollment prior to summer 2013 may not be available).
- Information about your student loan deferments and electronic notices sent to lenders.
Accessible to currently enrolled students via CalCentral, under the My Academics tab > Academic Records > Enrollment Verification > Enrollment Verification.
Important note: The data is refreshed weekly through the adjustment (add/drop) period and monthly thereafter. During the summer the data is refreshed at least once per session. Updates generally occur on Wednesday afternoons and reflect your enrollment status as of the preceding Monday at 7 AM.

- Full-Time Enrollmentadd
The Office of the Registrar certifies enrollment status based on the minimum unit loads required to be considered a Full Time student. These thresholds are used for all University of California, state, and federal reporting requirements, as well as to determine eligibility for financial aid and student loan deferments (both of which generally require at least Half Time enrollment). The enrollment thresholds cited below are enforced even if your school, college or program requires a greater unit load or authorizes you to enroll less than Full Time.
Undergraduate Graduate Law Full Time 12 12 10 Three-Quarter Time 9 – 11.9 9 – 11.9 7.5 – 9.9 Half Time 6 – 8.9 6 – 8.9 5 – 7.4 Less than Half Time 0.5 – 5.9 0.5 – 5.9 0.5 – 4.9 Important Note: The various schools, colleges and graduate programs may have different enrollment requirements — particularly at the undergraduate level. Please check with your school, college or program office for enrollment requirements specific to your program.
