Important information about Legal and Lived name options when ordering a transcript

During the transcript ordering process you are presented with the choice of having your legal or lived name appear on your transcript. Depending on your years of attendance the selections will produce different results. Transcripts for students that attended Summer 2016 and prior are stored as an image so the legal name you had while attending is the name that will appear on your transcript, regardless of the choice you make. Students that have attended Fall 2016 forward have the option of ordering a transcript with your lived name on them.

Students that only attend Summer 2016 and prior
Legal name = the legal name on record while you attended
Lived name = the legal name on record while you attended

Students that attended Fall 2016 forward
Legal name = the current legal name on record
Lived name = the current lived name on record. If no lived name is on record your transcript will display your current legal name on record.

Alumni*: If you want to change your name and order transcripts please submit the name change request and wait for confirmation from our office that it has been processed to order your transcript. This can be up to several days.

Current Students: If you want to change your name and order transcripts please follow the directions on this page: Your Name on Records and Rosters

*Note this will only affect transcripts for alumni that have attended since Fall 2016. Students that attended Summer 2016 and prior can update their names with the university, but it will not affect transcripts.
